Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of the University of Latvia (LU GGI) has a long-time experience in ground-based space observations e.g. GNSS RTK and postprocessing, Reference networks, GNSS observations analysis for Earth crust movement monitoring, Space weather etc. As well LU GGI has constructed several SLR systems (one in Australia and two in Latvia). LU GGI has developed original, lightweight instrument – Digital zenith camera (DZC) with control and data postprocessing software for observation of Earth vertical deflections.

LU GGI provides DZC observations and its post-processing for customers.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES IN SPACE

  • Production of Digital zenith cameras, regional quasi-geoid models and development of software, SLR control software development

  • Research of the atmosphere and ionosphere (anomaly refraction) impact on the optical and laser observations and measurements

EQUIPMENT

  • Two laboratories with domes for optical and laser ranging measurements. Laboratories are placed in different places in Riga city at different altitudes with different levels of light pollution.
  • Mobile station for satellite laser and optical tracking and observation.

  • Reconfigurable space object optical tracking system of GGI – implementation stage
  • Ionospheric characterization by statistics analysis of Latvian GBAS 11 year selective daily observations
  • Forming of scientific group for unified satellite laser ranging device design
  • Ground Station for Optical Observations of near-Earth Objects – Preparatory Study

CURRENT AND TARGET PARTNERSHIP

  • We see our customers as ones who are interested in SLR, digital zenith cameras, GNSS observations and GNSS reference networks infrastructure monitoring and analysis of GNSS (including GALILEO) data.
  • We are looking for a partners who are suppliers of high precision CCD matrices, high stability laser systems, lightweight telescopes, high precision levels, small-sized and high performance computers and electronics. As well we are looking for partners who can make mechanical parts and components according to our technical drawings.
